Due to certain circumstances I am spending a rather large amount of time with a sweet young Swiss gal. It is she who is teaching me some phrases and I forgot to mention that she also told me that if you say you have a boyfriend it is assumed you’re sleeping with him. Stephan didn’t tell me that part, but I’m hoping the social dynamics change once out of high school. Anyway, today SG came bubbling to me in Swiss German, and though I caught her greeting the rest sounded like beautiful, cute, unintelligible nonsense. I started laughing, but her story was funny so she kept going. It wasn’t until the end that I confessed my ignorance and the whole story came again in High German. Trial by fire – it’s the only way I’m going to learn, I guess! It reminded me of my favorite scene in “Finding Nemo,” so hence the blog title.
Today was a good day. I got good work done in the practice room, managed to concentrate well enough in classes, enjoyed seeing people again, and didn’t stress too much about all I have to do.
I'm sure SG is her initials, but it might just as well stand for Swiss German. :)
Or maybe SG means Swiss Gal? Anyway, here, in the open, without embarrassment: [[[[[Janet]]]]]
PDA!! UGH!!! :)
Hey, I miss you guys. Want to come to Oregon for the rest of January??
I remember what PDA means, but UGH? ;-)
Oregon's practically on the way, but I'd rather get back to Switzerland.
I think that's just 'ugh' not an acronym.
I'm happy again. I was thinking the third week in February would be awful: my parent's visit will be over and Stephan will be somewhere else in the world, but Stephanie will be BACK!!!!!! I will have sunshine in my life. :)
yep, that was just plain "ugh," not the acronym version, which according to acronymfinder.com stands for Uveitis Glaucoma Hyphema syndrome (an ophthalmological malady). duh. :)
And I'll be happy to be your sunshine and stomp out some dark clouds that week. I'll bring my cloud stompin' boots...
Unquestionably gross hugging? ;-)
How's that for weird: Oregon and China comment at the same time. Add the similar names, and you've got a right circus number
Wow! We're impressive! We were really on the same wave length earlier. Sorry I dropped the ball on the 6:14 post--I'll try to be more with it next time. :)
That's all right, I missed your 11:24 entry - we just need more practice.
(put your hands together for another gratuitous comment from yours truly!)
