As part of my self-designed physical therapy routine to get my body back into working condition, I’m doing some exercises from a book my mother recommended. You can learn about Pete Egoscue’s method here, if you wish. Apparently I dismissed him when Mom first recommended his books to me because it was “like easy yoga” and at that time I was still doing yoga faithfully.
(More)A friend pointed her readers to an article entitled “Choose a career path that makes you scared of failure.” You can read it here (it’s short).
It’s geared toward the businessman, but it gave me encouragement. Going to Switzerland is my dip. It’s down right scary. My visa was approved today. It’s really happening. Moving across the ocean to study medieval music on instruments I have little experience with and with enough money to last six months is a pretty big dip from my perspective. It’s not hopeless – I can see it paying off big dividends, but it could also end up being a very difficult time. I’m in the Lord’s hands!
Since my poor mother is having computer problems, I’ll fill you in with the family news. On Saturday Daddy too Mom and I out to the Mad Cow Theater production of Shakespeare’s Pericles, Prince of Tyre.
(More)The good news is I’m feeling better. The bad news is I’ve never properly shaken the music-related problems that I’ve had since the summer of 1998. Hey, that’s less than ten years of my life so there’s plenty of time to get back to normal!
(More)I’ve been ‘scolded’ for not updating my blog as much. That’s good to hear because it means people miss it. It’s usually just my mom who bugs me to write.
(More)I’ve come to realize that the word “homeschool” can have a radically different meaning to different people and it can evoke just about any emotion imaginable. You would think I should have learned this long ago, but I didn’t want to admit a word that meant so much to me was basically powerless because of its diversity of definitions. Reading Mom’s recommendation Kingdom of Children: Culture and Controversy in the Homeschooling Movement gave me a broader overview of what the word can mean from the outside and to different insiders.
(More)I’m very happy to report that the traffic on the way home was much improved over the traffic on the way up. Mom, Dad, and I drove to DSTB and while the dads had to go off to work the next morning the rest of us spent a lovely few days playing with the boys and discussing homeschooling curriculum. Both Mom and I want to be children in the DSTB household. Aunt S has so many wonderful and exciting things planned for their first year of homeschooling. Goodbyes were hard because we don’t know when the next time will be.
(More)Our time at the Maggie P. has once again come to a close. Once again I think picture are better than words. Thanks to everyone for everything that made it a wonderful visit!
