Proving that I have nothing better
to do, or that I have better things to do and I don’t want to do them, I sat
down tonight to write out a few Japanese words and phrases that I’m afraid I’ll
forget when I leave Japan. I hope to
keep my Japanese up, but knowing how my Italian faded into oblivion, I want to
at least remember some of those key phrases I’m come to love. Well, after writing non-stop and avoiding
those words that are easy to look up (days of the week, colors, etc.) I came up
with about 150 words and phrases and I’ve only touched on a few topics not many
nouns.I’m a bit curious to know how many
words I know since I haven’t been good about recording them when I learn them
(thus the need to write them all down now).
I also noticed that I really don’t know how to spell them even though
Japanese is quite phonetic. I’ve learned
them all by ear so I don’t know how to write some basic words! But I supposed all of this is not so
interesting. I need to update you on
this week.
The June 19-23 workweek wasn’t the
greatest, but it was okay. Another TV
station came to video and the principle and vice-principle watched a
class. I’m always frustrated at how
people change their behavior when they are watched. This shouldn’t be so, in my opinion, but ah
well. I have, however, had good
conversation and contact with students outside of class this week, and that’s
what makes me happy about this job.
I got stick after Bible study on
Monday so I haven’t been doing much but eat, sleep, and read at home. It’s been kind of nice, actually. So there’s not much to report about the week,
but I had a great weekend which I’ll write about before the new one starts
because it also will be busy – I get to see APA!
