It’s only been a week since I last
wrote and I can’t remember what I did!
Class were a bit less than fun when I had 40 kids, once again I got left
alone for a day (though thankfully not with 40 kids). It wasn’t too bad, and some classes did good
work anyway.
I think I can’t remember much
because I blocked it out of my mind. I
spent a lot of time trying to deal with emails and planning my trip home, which
proved to be complicated even when I made my decision about where and went to
go.Alex (student from Korea
who I met at church) came to Hippo club again on Saturday, and we had lots of
fun as usual. She listened hard to the
sample CD and was able to do Sonoco’s letter in French with some help! We then biked to Sakaori and met Leslie but
nobody came to pick us up for Bible study, so Leslie, Alex and I walked to
church from the station and played Frisbee until church started. We were joined by Mikie and Kengo (children
at church) and alternated between soccer and Frisbee. It was fun to just hang out and play! I never played a pick-up game of Frisbee in
college, so this fulfilled one small part of my life.
On Sunday I went to Megan’s
barbeque, which was a lot of fun and good food.
Megan’s Mom was visiting and she brought ‘smores fixings! Boy, that was possibly the best tasting
‘smore I’ve had! I couldn’t stay too
long since I had to get back for a Japanese lesson with Miwako, which was also
fun.
On Monday the regular English Bible
study started up again and Adden was back from China . It appears he past his test (something for
university) and we’re glad to have him back again. Of course I’ve been biking to church and
Bible study, and it’s really quite nice.
I hadn’t been running because of my knee, but that all changed on
Thursday at the school festival, but you’ll hear all about the school festival
in another update.
I
went with Yayoi (wife of German man with daughter Harumi and they come to
church sometimes) to her friend’s house for dinner so her daughter could ask me
about American Sign Language. She’s
doing a report for her middle school and chose shuwa (hand language) as her
topic. Her mother (Ayumi) made an
amazing meal with sushi and other little sides that I often see at fancy
restaurants but never know what I’m eating.
It was delicious!
Now I’m caught up until the school
festival, but I have to go to work (actually the last day of the
festival). I’m taking lots of pictures,
but mostly video since it seems more interesting. You’ll have to wait until the Maggie P. to
see those unless I figure out a way to post them before then, which I
doubt. I can’t wait to tell you about
all the craziness that happens at school festivals!
